In this report we look at the situations of households throughout China down to the city, county, and district levels. Over the next five years or so, where households under 2.5 persons will become the leading type. However, currently it is the larger sized households whose household expenditures are the highest as it is common throughout China to combine incomes where the head of the household plays a major role in larger purchases.
We not only look at the total number of households, but which ones are actual family one’s verses being collective households. In China collective households are an important indicator because these type of households are factory and school dormitories, elderly facilities and the like. In some cities throughout China, there are hundreds of thousands and even into the millions of people living in these.
We then look at family size. In certain places these family households are under 2.5 persons, and others over 5 even approaching 7. In some places families have 0-1 kid, in others they have multiple children, and in many others also extended families living together namely husband and wife, kids, and a set of their parents who help-out with the household and the raising of children while the husband and wives attend to work and their careers.
Finally, we look at the wellness situation of households which includes average savings deposits per household (with amount varying widely depending on which part of China you are looking at), access to hospitals and other health institutes and the number of doctors and nurses per every 1000 households in any given area of the country.
Economic and market shifts are changing the make-up of households in terms of size, location, income and expenditures, and even elderly-care. Our household report looks at these dynamics and the implications they have for companies, enterprises, and marketers especially the targeting of households of different sizes because what they may purchase or do is quite different.
Our reports include the past 10 years of data at purchase. We typically have new reports ready after the first quarter of the year. For the new reports, we initially usually offer them at a discounted rate. Please reach out to our team if you have any questions.
